Reminder, class is on Mondays @ 6:30pm – 7:30 pm, Keystone Dance Studio @ 252 W. 30th St., #4B.
This cold weather has returned with a vengeance making this yoga gal want to hide deep in the blankets & never come out. My body is exhausted from the constant tensing of the muscles as it tries to protect itself from the unpredictable change in weather from warm to cold. In times like this there in only one thing I can think to do. Charge through the cold with a strong yoga pose to strengthen the body. So with that in mind, we return to Virabhadrasana III or Warrior III as the “Feature Yoga Pose of the Week”. Just as Virabhadra, the warrior created by the Hindu God, Shiva, had charge through to strike his opponent, Daksha, we shall strike this cold with a pose that invigorates & energizes the body & mind. Warrior III is a great balancing pose that helps to strengthen the ankles, legs, shoulders, & muscles of the back. It also helps to tone the entire body, especially the abdomen, while improving posture, concentration & memory. With all these benefits, it is no wonder that I chose to do battle with the cold in tomorrow’s class?
