I hope everyone has enjoyed the long holiday last week. As we enter the height of summer with it’s hot steamy days with it’s abundance of outdoor activities, sometimes it’s good to slow things down a bit & find some ease. So with that in mind, allow me to introduce Balasana or Child’s Pose as the “Feature Yoga Pose of the Week”. Child’s Pose is a great calming & restorative posture, generally placed between more challenging yoga sequences as a way to rest the body & breath. This pose helps to gently stretch the hips, thighs & ankles while relieving tension in the back, shoulders, & chest. It can also help to lengthen & stretch the spine, while normalizing the circulation of the body. Finally, this pose encourages the breath to become steady & strong, helping to calm the mind & body while relieving stress & fatigue. With all these great benefits, is it no wonder that Balasana has been a staple throughout many yoga classes?
