This last week was a definite scorcher. As the heat of summer continues with the air conditioning blasting causing a constant dryness in the throat (as least for me…), shall we continue to open the chest while lengthening the body? With that said, allow me to reintroduce Salamba Bhujangasana or Sphinx Pose as the “Feature Yoga Pose of the Week”. This feature pose is a gentle backbend that not opens but also stretches the chest, shoulders & abs. Sphinx pose also helps to strengthen & lengthen the spine while firming the buttocks. This is also a great pose to calm the mind & reduce stress. Finally, this pose can help to invigorate the body, soothe the nervous system & be therapeutic for fatigue. With all these great benefits, is it no wonder I have chosen this pose to continue to calm & open the body while we lengthen?
