Has autumn finally arrived???? Just for a moment I though it did, but lo and behold, the warm temps of summer has something else to say. So as summer continues to hold on, this yoga gal can think of nothing else but to honor the warmth of the sun. So with that in mind, allow me to introduce Surya Namaskar or Sun Salutations as the “Feature Sequence of the Week”. As many of you may already know, Surya Namaskar has been a staple in many of my classes as there are numerous benefits that helps to wake up the body by improving blood circulation. The sequences of movements help to engage the core, open the shoulders and stretch the hamstrings, while massaging the internal organs that can help improve overall health. This sequence can be practiced at a fast pace that can add a cardio workout to the yoga routine or at a slower pace to ground and calm the body. Whichever pace, this sequence is versatile to satisfy an individual’s needs. So join me this week as we honor the sun and the last vestiges of the summer warmth.
