Can you believe that the holidays are upon us once again? As the year comes to a slow close, we will soon be rushing off to our holiday destination with another scrumptious feast of holiday goodness ahead of us. But before that happens, let’s end “Yoga Tribute to Ourselves” with a yoga pose that not only improves digestion, but also helps to increase flexibility & range of motion of the spine. With that said, the “Feature Yoga Pose of the Week” will be Ardha Matsyendrasana or Seated Spinal Twist. I don’t know about you but whenever I do this pose, my spine feels that a dishrag, twisting away all the excess tension & stress along my back & my spine that may have accumulated over time. Ardha Matsyendrasana is such a great yoga pose that opens the chest & shoulders, stretches the neck, hips & hip flexors, & strengthens the oblique muscles of the abdomen It also energizes the spine & helps to maintain spinal rotation while relieving menstrual discomfort, fatigue, sciatica & backache. This gentle twist can also help to massage the abdominal organs that can stimulate digestion & detoxify the liver. With all these wonderful benefits, is it no wonder I would chose this to be the “Feature Yoga Pose of the Week”? So be prepare for the many twist & turns that will be coming our way…
