June is here, with the promise of sunny days & warm balmy nights. With the unofficial start of summer also comes the start of beach season. Last month, we had worked on a series of sequences to help open up the chest in order to do battle with allergy season. Though allergy season is not yet over, this month we will continue to open the body, while working on balancing poses that strengthen & stretch the body, especially the core. One pose that comes to mind that works out the entire body, especially to engage the core that can help minimize belly fat is Navasana or Boat Pose. As many of you know, Navasana tends to show up quite often in my class. Not only is this a great pose to strengthen & tone the abdominal muscles, it is also a great pose to strengthen the entire body to help prepare for future inversions. This pose also helps to stimulate the kidneys, thyroid, prostate glands & intestines while improving digestion. It also strengthens the spine & hip flexors while stretching the hamstrings. Boat Pose can also help relieve stress & improve balance & confidence. So join me this week as we row our way to a stronger body while perhaps preparing for another inversion to make it ways down the line.
