Hi Everyone,

I hope you are having a lovely Father’s Day. I myself am currently away visiting with my dad. But fear not, I’ll be back just in time to teach my regularly scheduled classes. I have to say, as much as I have enjoyed being away & spending time with my family, the long hours on the train this past month has certainly left my body feeling tight, especially the hips & shoulders. While this month has been all sequences that continue that engage the core, improve balance, and energize, I can’t also help think of postures to create space in the shoulders while opening the hips. One such pose that comes to mind is Garudasana or Eagle Pose. Garudasana is a great pose that not only opens the hips & IT band, but also helps to open the shoulder joints to create more space between the shoulder blades while stretching the upper back. Eagle Pose also works to strengthen & stretch the arms, legs, knees & ankles, while improving circulation of all the joints, digestion & elimination. Finally, as this is a balancing posture, this pose works to engage the core while improving concentration & focus. So be prepared this week to soar like an eagle.
