I hope everyone is enjoying the gorgeous weather. Last week was definitely a struggle as the heat & humidity had done a number on my system, causing my mind to quicken & the blood to boil. Though the temps have dropped, giving us a nice reprieve from the scorching temps of just a few days ago, summer is not over. Sometimes it may be better to slow down our movements to counter the effects from the heat of summer that will be upon us once more. Therefore, I’d like to continue to incorporate this idea of a slowing down with poses to help calm the nervous system & cool the body. Forward Folds, in particular, helps to calm the mind while creating ease in the body. One forward fold we will be working on this week is Upavistha Konasana or Wide Legged Seated Forward Fold. This is a great pose that stretches the legs, strengthen the spine, and stimulates the abdominal organs. It can also help to release tension in the groin while calming the mind. So join me tis week as we continue to slow things down & bring more calmness to our practice.
