We certainly have had a wide spectrum of weather this week, from hot & humid to damp & raining. I don’t know about you but it has been causing my joints to tighten & creating tension in my hips. What to do? As we continue with the idea of slowing down with poses to help calm the nervous system & cool the body, I’d also like to include poses that work to open the hips, releasing tension. One such pose that comes to mind is Utthan Pristhasana or Lizard Pose. Utthan Pristhasana is a great pose to open hips, hamstrings, groin, and hip flexors. Lizard Pose also works to strengthen the quads & inner thigh muscles while opening & releasing the chest, shoulders, & neck. This pose can also help to stimulate the internal organs, while calming the mind & releasing tension & stress. So join me this we as we continue to calm & find release into our practice.
