Early morning yoga classes @ MBSY on Tuesdays only, see schedule below for subs for my regularly scheduled classes.
As we head towards the end of summer, I realize that I need to take a short break from teaching & posting to recharge. So I will be taking a short break the next few weeks for some much needed rest & relaxation. I will be back to teach at MBSY & Studio in the Heights on August 23rd, but Stretch’n Flow will continue to be on break until September. But before that happens, I’d like to continue to honor all the wonderful warriors I have had the pleasure to guide this summer. What better way to move forward with the warrior sequences then with Virabhadrasana II or Warrior II. As mentioned in last week’s post, the warrior yoga poses represent the powerful warrior named Virabhadra, created by the Hindu God, Shiva as he was ordered to destroy Daksha, whom Shiva blames as responsible for the death of his wife, Sati. As the Warrior I pose represents his arrival with swords in both hands, Warrior II represents his second stance as he spots his opponent, Daksha. This powerful pose strengthens the arms & legs while opening the hips & chest. Like Warrior I, it also improves circulation & respiration while helping to develop focus, balance & stability, energizing the body. So join me Warrior II & its variations make its many appearances.
