Lately, I’ve been getting a lot of requests for hamstrings & lower back. It’s no wonder with this constant shift in temps & the cold hitting us so suddenly, not to mention, last weekend was the NYC Marathon. Let’s also not forget that Halloween had jus past with all its yummy treats and more holidays to come. As many of you may have noticed, I have incorporated a lot of sequences to stretch & open the shoulders & hips to help combat this season of constant change. This month, I’d like to take it a step further. Just as last year, with the season of yummy goodness soon upon us, I’d also like to continue with a series of strong poses that incorporates twist that not only stretches the entire body but also work the abdominal organs to aid in digestion & elimination. On such pose that I have been including more often is Parivrtta Trikonasana or Revolved Triangle. Revolved Triangle is a great pose to stretch the hamstrings, IT band, groin & hips, while opening the chest & shoulders. As this is also a balancing pose with a deep twist, it helps to strengthen the thigh, hips & back muscles while giving relief to lower back pain, release stress and, improve concentration, balance & stability. So with all these great benefits, is this not a great pose to start off our season of twists?
