Hi Everyone,

Brrr… it is cold outside & I hope everyone has been staying warm. As the cold winter days come full force, sometimes our bodies lose the battle and we just need to stay under the covers & rest. How can we fight this frigid cold? Yep… by continuing to work with poses that strengthen & balance the entire body, especially the core. So with that in mind, as “Yoga Tribute to Ourselves” continues, we will revisit Navasana or Boat Pose. Navasana has always been a staple throughout my class. This a great pose to not only strengthen & tone the abdominal muscles, it also helps to stimulate the kidneys, thyroid, prostate glands & intestines. It also strengthens the spine & hip flexors while stretching the hamstrings. As this pose is a balancing posture on your sitting bones, it requires you to engage your entire body to find stability and improve balance & concentration while helping to relieve stress & improve confidence. And finally, by engaging the abdominal muscles, Boat Pose also improves digestion, something we need as we continue to prepare our bodies for all the holiday treats. With all these great benefits, is it no wonder I have once again chosen Navasana as we continue to find strength & balance through the cold, wintry nights to come?
