Can you believe that Christmas is just around the corner? As lovely as the holidays are, sometimes it can leave some to feel a bit frazzled with all the shopping & preparation beforehand, leaving us to feel a bit off balanced. So before we rush off to our holiday destination, we will end “Yoga Tribute to Ourselves” with a yoga pose that not only improves digestion, but that can bring a sense of grounding & balance while keeping in line with the holidays. What pose would that be? Yep, Vrksasana or Tree Pose. Tree Pose is a wonderful pose to feel grounded and rooted to the earth while the balancing aspect helps the mind to focus. This pose also continues to help strengthen the legs, thighs, calves, & spine, while opening the hips by stretching the groin & inner thighs, not to mention the chest & shoulders. Because we are balancing on one leg, we can allow ourselves to surrender in the moment that can help quiet the mind and stay focused while strengthening the ankle & knees. This pose also helps to relieve sciatic, reduces flat feet & prevents hernias by strengthening the internal oblique muscles. Finally this pose improves circulation, respiration and kidney functioning while stimulating the nervous system, digestion and helps relieve constipation. So be prepared as we not only continue to prepare our bodies for the holiday feasts ahead but also stay grounded and focus as we bring balance to the week!
