Hi Everyone,

As we come to the end of April and enter May, spring is should be in full swing. However, the weather is telling another story with its constant back & forth from sunny & warm to rainy & cold. Combined that with the start of allergy season & it’s no wonder that lately I’ve been waking up feeling lethargic & sluggish with a considerable tightness in my shoulders & upper back. When this happens, all I can think about is how to continue to strengthen & stretch my upper back. As some of you may have noticed, I recently re-introduce Dolphin Pose into my classes. Not only is this a great pose to open the shoulders, it also works to strengthen the muscles of the upper back & chest to help protect the shoulder girdle creating a more stable upper body. Dolphin is also a great pose to stretch the hamstrings, calves, and arches of the feet, while strengthening the core, arms, and legs. This pose also helps to relieve menstrual discomfort when done with the head supported, headaches, insomnia, back pain, and fatigue, while helping to prevent osteoporosis. This is also a great pose to cam the brain that helps to relieve stress and mild depression. Finally this pose can be therapeutic for high blood pressure, asthma, flat feet & sciatica. With all these great benefits, what better pose to strengthen the body from the onslaught of the changing weather as well as prepare ourselves for the coming season of allergies as we transition from April to May?
