Hi Everyone,

Shoulders & hips, oh my! Have they been talking to you lately? Mine certainly has with this drastic change in weather. Not only that but I’ve noticed a considerable tightness in my hips from sitting at a desk for hours on end. These are the two most common areas of chronic pain & tension in today’s world, not to mention an area we tend to hold a lot of stress. With that in mind, as we continue to play homage to the warrior, I can only think of one variation in particular that not only opens the hips & psoas but also helps to stretch the shoulders, Humble/Devotional Warrior. A variation of Warrior I, though not a traditional pose, the name itself is associated with the act of bowing the head down as if in reverence or homage. A transitional pose, this pose helps to open your chest, neck & shoulders. It also helps to stretch the shoulders, arms & the muscles of the back while strengthening the thighs, calves & ankles. So as we continue to play homage to the warrior, what better way then featuring the Humble/Devotional Warrior in all its variations? Join me this week as we work to ease stiffness & tension throughout our day.

P.S. I will also be teaching yoga at the New York Road Runners’ Run Center this Sunday, October 27th at noon. Not only that, perhaps a special playlist for the coming Halloween festivities. Class is free! Register here:
