Feature Yoga Pose of the Week is back…
Reminder, class resumes on Mondays @ 6:30pm – 7:30 pm, Keystone Dance Studio @ 252 W. 30th St., #4B.
Hi Everyone,
Can you believe that a month has already past for the New Year? Not only are we entering the month of February but also the Lunar New Year of the Rooster. When I think of all that has already happened in 2017, I can’t help but feel a bit winded. But then I think of the Rooster, which according to Chinese astrology, among it many traits are thought to be resilient, committed, brave, loyal & hardworking. It is these traits that reminded me to keep going no matter what this year may bring us. As I have been a bit lax of late, I’d like to re-introduce “Feature Yoga Pose of the Week”. I will pick one yoga pose to feature in my post & throughout class that particular week. And what feature pose to open the Lunar New Year that demonstrates resilience & commitment? Drum roll… Chaturanga Dandasana!!! As many of you know, this is a yoga pose I include often throughout my classes. Not only does this pose help to strengthen the arms, shoulders & legs, with its downward movement while in plank position without opening up the elbows, it also helps to develop core strength & stability. It is also a great pose to prepare the body for inversions & arm balances. Chaturanga Dandasana is a challenging pose for many that requires a lot of focus, strength & commitment. With all these benefits, what better way to enter the Year of the Rooster than Chaturanga Dandasana as the “Feature Yoga Pose of the Week”?
