How shall we combat the cold? Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.....

Reminder, class is on Mondays @ 6:30pm – 7:30 pm, Keystone Dance Studio @ 252 W. 30th St., #4B.

Hi Everyone,

Has it been cold or is it just me? The weather has certainly taken a turn for the freezing. I don’t know about you, but when it gets this cold, my joints tend to stiffen & I start to feel tightness along my lower body, especially the knee. I also tend to curl up into a ball when I sleep as a way to protect myself from the cold. What is the result? My entire front body & hips scream in protest when I wake up. What’s this yoga girl to do? Yep, work on opening up my hips & front body. So with that in mind, allow me to introduce Anjaneyasana or Crescent Lunge as the “Feature Yoga Pose of the Week”. Crescent Lunge is a great yoga pose to help stretch the legs, hamstrings, quads, groin, & hip flexors, while opening the front torso, chest & shoulders. As you move forward in this pose while balancing on one knee, it also helps to develop flexible stability while releasing tension in the hips, an area we tend to hold stress, & strengthen the knee, thighs & gluts. Whew… with all these benefits is it no wonder I have chosen Anjaneyasana as the “Feature Yoga Pose of the Week” to help combat the effects of the cold?
