June is here, with the promise of sunny days & warm balmy nights. (Supposedly…LOL) I hope everyone had a lovely week & I am happy to be back, feeling recharged. Of course, my feeling recharged means a class full of poses to not only recharge the body but also making it feeling strong. So with that in mind, allow me to reintroduce a pose that has been a staple throughout all my classes. Yep, you’ve guessed it, the “Feature Yoga Pose of the Week” will be none other than Tri Pada Adho Mukha Svanasana or Downward Facing Dog Split/ Three-Legged Downward Facing Dog. This pose has all the benefits of the Downward Facing Dog, such as strengthening the arms & legs, while stretching & energizing the entire body, & relieving stress, headaches, fatigue, digestion & back pain. However with one leg lifted up into a split, this particular variation has the added benefit of opening the hips & ribs, while improving balance & toning the hips, guts & thighs. With all these amazing benefits, is it no wonder this pose is featured throughout many yoga classes & has been a staple in many of my sequences? So be prepared to Downward Facing Dog Split when you least expect it this week.
