Hi Everyone,
As we come to the end of September, the official end of summer & the beginning of autumn, I am reminded of the many changes & challenges we may be going through. As I mentioned in my last post, the shift in season can leave some to feel a bit frazzled and unsteady. I myself have been feeling anxious this past week by certain events that left me feeling unsettled. Though we may all wish to believe ourselves to be a mountain of strength and unnerved by events around us, it can eventually take its toll. It can also take time to figure out what is the next best step for our individual selves. What can we do when this happens? For now, finding a way to stay grounded and focused. With that said, in continuing with the idea of postures that are more grounding and stable to calm the body & mind, allow me to introduce Baddha Konasana or Bound Ankle Pose as the “Feature Yoga Pose of the Week”. This is a great pose that stretches the hips, inner thighs, groin and knees. Because this pose helps to open the hips, an area we tend to hold tension and stress, it can also help relieve mild depression, anxiety and fatigue. It also helps to stimulate the heart and improve circulation throughout the body, especially the pelvis that can help sooth menstrual discomfort, menopause and sciatica. This pose can also stimulate the abdominal organs, ovaries, prostate gland, bladder and kidneys, while being therapeutic for flat feet, high blood pressure, infertility and asthma. With all these great benefits is it no wonder that I have chosen this pose to continue to ground and calm the body?
