Hi Everyone,
Autumn is definitely upon us. As I walked through the streets this past week, I started to notice the changing colors of the leaves and shift in temperature. It was a wonderful feeling to be surrounded the steady transformation of the color of the leaves from its rich greenery of summer to the vibrant colors of fall. What a surprise it was for me for the warmth and humidity of summer to return to us. I don’t know about you, but this constant shift has left me a bit off balance & my mind to be all over the place. As the past few weeks have been about bringing a sense of grounding into our practice to help calm the body and mind, how about also adding a bit of balance to help bring back focus? So with that in mind, the “Feature Yoga Pose of the Week” will be the return of Vrksasana or Tree Pose. Tree Pose is a wonderful pose to feel grounded and rooted to the earth while the balancing aspect helps the mind to focus. This pose also continues to help strengthen the legs, thighs, calves, & spine, while opening the hips by stretching the groin & inner thighs, not to mention the chest & shoulders. Because we are balancing on one leg, we can allow ourselves to surrender in the moment that can help quiet the mind and stay focused while strengthening the ankle & knees. Finally, this pose also helps to relieve sciatic and reduces flat feet. So be prepared as we not only continue to stay grounded and focus, but also go about bringing balance this whole week!
