Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!

Looking forward to starting the New Year fresh as Stretch’n Flow yoga class resumes tomorrow, January 2nd. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Early morning yoga classes resume @ MBSY from Tuesday-Thursday. See schedule below.

Hi Everyone,

I hope everyone had a lovely holiday. I myself was away for some much-needed R&R as I celebrated with the family and therefore took a short hiatus from social media. Though I immensely enjoyed my time off, I have to admit that it was not always so stress-free or restful. During that time, my mind was at a constant as I tried to think of new & inventive ways to keep classes fresh & interesting for 2018. What was the result? Confused & anxious… Whenever I would think of one idea, I would then doubt myself and change direction again & again until I was full of uncertainty. Even as I sat down earlier throughout the week to attempt to write this post, I was still a mass of confusion. It wasn’t until today when I tried to make my own New Year’s Resolution that I realized how much pressure I was putting on myself. It was then that I began take long, even breaths to calm myself & realized that maybe I needed to take a step back in order to move forward. With that said, I decided to return to the basics and concentrate on the Breath or Pranayama. Pranayama, which means to extend “life force” or “prana”, is a practice of regulating the breath to help regulate the mind. Though this practice has many techniques, we will work with one of the most basic breathing techniques, evening out the breath at 1:1 ratio. Don’t be fooled. Though the most basic of forms, the 1:1 ratio can be quite challenging. I myself have learned in the past that my breath can become very uneven overtime as life takes its effect causing additional tension. As I learned to even out my breath, I was able to help reduce my stress, quiet the mind, and reconnect with the body, creating a sense of balance. So join me this week as we started off 2018 with a resolve to enjoy the basics and find balance in our breath & daily lives.
