Hi Everyone,

Can you believe that Thanksgiving is just around the corner? Where did the month go? Soon there will be a mad dash to leave the city to travel far and wide to be with family and friends with a Thanksgiving feast before them. But before you rush off to enjoy all the yummy foods, perhaps we could prepare our bodies not only for the onslaught of food to come but the stress that comes along with holiday travel. So with that in mind, allow me to reintroduce a pose that not only strengthen & tone the body but also help with digestion. One such pose is Utthita Parsvakonasana or Extended Side Angle. Utthita Parsvakonasana not only helps to strengthen & stretch the legs, knees, ankles & groin but also helps to tone the abdominal muscles while stimulating the abdominal organs aiding in digestion. This pose also opens the chest, shoulders & lungs that can aid in breathing, while it relieves stiffness in the shoulders & back. This also helps improve flexibility of the spine & hips, stimulates the organs, & relieves constipation. It can also help with low back pain, sciatica, reduce menstrual discomfort & finally, deepens breathing. Whew, with all these benefits, is it no wonder that I have chosen Extended Side Angle to prepare the body for all the holidays to come?
