Let’s continue to slow down & twist our way to calm & coolness…

Hi Everyone,

How’s the summer been treating you so far? Can you believe that we are already in the month of August? I hope everyone has been having a wonderful time soaking in the sun & warm… (hmm… sometime hot) weather. Though the temps may have cooled a bit, it’s important to not to overexert ourselves that can cause our body to overheat.

As many of you know, I have working with the idea of keeping things slow & steady to help combat the effects of the heat. This month I’d like to take this a step further with poses that help to calm the nervous system & release excess heat, thereby cooling the body down. Poses that are close to the ground & spinal twist are great examples of such yoga postures. One pose in particular that comes to mind is Ardha Matsyendrasana or Seated Spinal Twist. Not only is this a great cooling yoga pose, it also helps to increase flexibility & range of motion of the spine. Ardha Matsyendrasana opens the chest & shoulders, stretches the hips & hip flexors, & strengthens the oblique muscles of the abdomen. Seated Spinal Twist is gentle twist that also helps to relieve menstrual discomfort, fatigue, sciatica & backache while massaging the abdominal organs that can stimulate digestion & detoxify the liver. Finally, as every nerve of the body is rooted in the spine, the rotation of its axis helps to stimulate the nerves, releasing tension, helping to clam the nervous system. So join me as we twist our way through the week to bring coolness to the body & calm the mind.

In the meantime, if you also wish to follow my adventures in Spain & France, I have been steadily working on updates to my website & Instagram as I continue to share photos & more details of my travels. I will continue to keep you up to date with sneak peaks to the other wonderful retreat locations that I had that opportunity to explore for possible retreats for 2020. So stay tuned for more details to follow…
