Feeling cool & grounded…

Hi Everyone,

The heat is on! With the humidity skyrocketing & the rain making its unpredictable appearance throughout the week to come, aren’t you glad I’ve kept things slow & steady as we continue to keep things cool & find a moment of grounding to calm the mind.

You may have noticed that I have been incorporating a lot of backbends, specifically Bhujangasana or Cobra Pose throughout class. As I mentioned, poses that are close to the earth can be very cooling to the body & create a sense of grounding that is calming to the nervous system. Not only that, but poses like Bhujangasana can help support the thyroid gland that help to regulate internal heat and the metabolism. Cobra Pose is also a great pose to strengthen the spine, arm & shoulders, while it also stretches the chest, lungs, shoulders, & abdomen, while firming the buttocks. It also increases flexibility of the spine, deceases stiffness of the lower back & can improve menstrual irregularities & sooth sciatica. Cobra also opens the chest to help clear the passages of the heart & lungs that can help the symptoms of asthma, while improving circulation of the blood & oxygen, invigorating the heart. It can also stimulate the organs in the abdomen & kidneys, helping to improve digestion, while helping to relieve stress & fatigue. So join me this week as we continue to create a sense of grounding as we continue to slow things down & bring more calmness to our practice.

In the meantime, if you also wish to follow my adventures in Spain & France, I have been steadily working on updates to my website & Instagram as I continue to share photos & more details of my travels. I will continue to keep you up to date with sneak peaks to the other wonderful retreat locations that I had that opportunity to explore for possible retreats for 2020. So stay tuned for more details to follow…
